We change the game by solving global challenges using pragmatic hands-on engineering.
Many courageous organisations are taking on major humanitarian and sustainability challenges. Hack the Planet offers these organisations new perspectives on challenges, accelerating their efforts by implementing smart and pragmatic technologies.
The idea of ‘Meet the Soldier’ has been in our heads for long: What would happen if two opposing soldiers would meet in person? What would happen if they could talk about common subjects and forget about their conflict? This concept was taken to the next level when we realised that with smart technology and effective collaborations we could actually pull this off.

One of the catalysts of Meet the Soldier was a recently released collaborative project with University of Leiden for World Press Photo: The Bigger Picture. Not only did we realise the impact of storytelling (through data visualisations), but the partnership also taught us a great deal about how research has shown that Virtual Reality increases Empathy among people. As a result, we decided that we simply needed to pursue the concept of letting rival soldiers meet each other virtually; and so the adventure began.
